'The Office' Reunion – John Krasinski And Steve Carrell Reflect On Its 15th Anniversary

Mar 30, 2020 by apost team

Despite the current global crisis, actor, writer and director John Krasinski is determined to bring some good news to the world. So much so, that he's started a news show on his YouTube channel titled Some Good News. Kicking off the first episode, Krasinski included a segment with Steve Carrell where the two celebrate The Office's 15th Anniversary by reflecting and sharing stories from their time on the show. Some great news indeed!

The segment with Carrell begins when Krasinski announces: "On a personal note, this week actually brought a whole lot of good news because it marked 15 years since this haircut was born," while showing a framed photo of him in his role as Jim Halpert from The Office. It's nostalgic to see the way Krasinski looked when the world first got to know him on the show, versus now.

In keeping with the news-themed show, he explains that SGN will have more on the story as they go to entertainment correspondent Steve Carrell. The two greet each other warmly and hilariously, sharing a few funny comments about SGN's homemade sign and that John's bottom half of his outfit definitely doesn't match the dapper suit and tie seen up top.

They move on and begin to discuss the show, its influence, and reminisce on memorable moments. John begins by saying he was a 23-year-old waiter when they filmed the pilot, and he even went back to waiting tables as he was convinced it wouldn't get picked up as a show.

Steve goes on to add that: "It's such a happy surprise that after all these years people are still tuning in and finding it even today, it's pretty cool." After being asked by John what his favorite moments from the show were, Steve includes all of the exchanges around the micro flat-screen TV, before a scene from the show is shown, in which all the actors break into laughter.

Steve adds that the best moments were the ones they all shared together as a cast, before him and John highlight a few specific episodes, as clips of them are played onscreen. Furthermore, he says: "What was so much fun about it was that everybody in the cast was rooting for everybody else. People would step back when it was time for other people to shine and celebrate it."

John adds to the sentimentality, saying that it was the most emotional he's ever been on a set, before recounting how hard it was to do the scene with Steve, in which their characters Jim and Michael say their goodbyes to each other. The clip from the show, also an emotional one, perfectly captures Krasinski's point.

He then touches on reunion rumors by saying, "Listen I know everyone's talking about a reunion, hopefully one day, we just get to reunite as people. And just all get to say hi," making reference to the extreme social distancing guidelines that much of the world is currently adhering to.

After sharing a snippet of the conversation with Carrell on his Instagram account, fans of the show commented, including former co-star Kate Flannery, who wrote in the comments: "Amazing!!!! Thank you!!!"

It's clear everyone involved in The Office had an incredible time while making the show and has remained good friends since then. This very personal discussion between John Krasinski and Steve Carrell illuminates that and will bring happiness to not only fans of The Office, but anyone in the world right now. Krasinski's Some Good News show is definitely achieving what it's set out to do.
