Are you constantly hugging your children? If you answered yes, don’t stop what you have been doing! It’s definitely doing something amazing for them! Recent research has shown that showing physical affection while your baby is developing is much more important than we thought it was before.

Dr. Nathalie Maitre says that this revelation confirms that just simple body contact and/or rocking a baby in your arms is sure to make an amazing difference in the development of their brains.

She states that it is important for preterm babies to be given supportive, positive touch as much as possible. It will encourage their brains to respond when a simple touch emulates the way they felt in the womb. For preterm babies, this is crucial. She goes on to say that physical touch is just as important for the development of a baby’s brain as anything else.
