We’ve been taught from birth to make the right decisions because the choices we make define who we are. Biology of evolution has taught us that with every big action we take, our brains actually go through physical changes.

But what about the life-altering decision to murder somebody?

How about an even crazier decision to go after murderers themselves? Although these personality changes can be complicated, people like this actually exist.

A serial killer from Brazil has been participating in such acts for years. Pedro Rodrigues Filho leads a lifestyle like the one you would imagine from a movie. One of the most notable murderers in recent years, Filho is newsworthy because of his chronic need to end the lives of criminals and murderers. Pedro was born in Minas Gerais in 1954. His life has been full of struggles and hardships. His father had brutally beaten his mother throughout her pregnancy with Pedro, and he was born with abnormalities and damage to his skull as a result of the abuse.

Growing up with an abusive upbringing has damaging impacts on the life of a child.

Pedro learned from these behaviors, and at the young age of 14, he found his first victim. He chose to take out his anger on the boss that had fired his father.

Pedro’s father had been accused of stealing food from the job. The vice-mayor of their town decided to fire him as a result. Pedro reacted abnormally, shooting the vice-mayor with a shotgun in the front of city hall in broad daylight. But Pedro didn’t stop yet, as he needed closure from the incident. Since he knew his father had not stolen the food, he hunted down the thief. Instead of turning him into the police for punishment, he murdered him as well.

Because he had to live his life constantly on the run, Pedro moved to Mogi das Cruzes in Sao Paulo. This location was where he found his first love. But his crime spree didn’t stop, as he murdered a drug dealer and became a thief himself until his girlfriend, whom he loved, Maria Aparecida Olympia, got murdered by local gang members. Some may believe this was karma for his actions, but Pedro was still a minor at this time. Rather than teach him a lesson, the death of his lover gave him the inspiration to continue his killing spree by torturing the gang members responsible for her death.

He became focused on revenge, and his death count rose to 10 people before the age of 18.

Vengeance became even more important to Pedro with the death of his mother, who had been brutally murdered by his father. To express himself, Pedro stabbed his father 22 times while visiting him in jail before ripping his heart out and eating it. Things only got more gruesome when he was being transported to jail in a police car with a rapist, and murdered him as well. This crime motivated him to become the killer of killers.

While serving time in prison, he brutally murdered 47 inmates, with his favorite weapon of choice, a blade. In interviews, he describes the thrill and happiness he felt when killing convicts.

Despite all of the violence and crime he filled his life with, Pedro was set free from prison. Although his initial ruling resulted in a 128-year sentence, Brazilian law only allows for prisoners to be kept for a maximum of 30 years. He was released in 2007, and today he can be seen swearing to keep on with his killing spree.
