Sonny Bono and Cher made not only one of the most iconic duos of all time but also one of the most adored and beloved couples in Hollywood history. You wouldn’t know it based on her incredible stage presence, confidence, and charisma now, but Cher used to be quite shy during her younger years and leaned on Bono to help when she was first getting her start in the music industry. Eventually, the two realized that they would make a great unit and joined forces to form the duo known as Sonny & Cher.

The pair also turned their relationship into a romantic one and got married in 1969 before divorcing in 1975. However, they stayed good friends, and Cher even gave a eulogy at Bono’s funeral after his tragic death from a skiing accident in 1998. Along with being a singer and musician, Bono was also known for his work as an actor and politician.

The pair repeatedly made headlines during their run as a famous duet for their music, television show, and affectionate romance, and even went on to have one child together named Chaz. Cher and Bono made many memories together prior to Bono’s death, some of which still live on today.

They also were the talk of the town thanks to their choice of residency with the two mansions they purchased together. Specifically, their gorgeous former home in Bel-Air, California, was something everyone talked about and is currently still attracting people with its beauty. Although Sonny & Cher will go down in history as one of the most lovable and memorable music duos of all time, their time as partners is what people continue to hold on to. According to The Daily MailCher and Bono were not only famous for their music and romance but also for their affinity toward buying houses together in the state of California.

The couple’s first apartment was located at 364 St. Cloud Road, Bel-Air, California, and was sold by Tony Curtis. Cher and Bono knew about the mansion and purchased it in 1967 after being absolutely stunned by its gorgeous appearance. According to The Daily Mail, Curtis had moved out from the mansion six months prior and was willing to sell it for $250,000.

The home is known for being extremely luxurious and was originally built in the 1930s, containing an array of amenities and beautiful features. With six bedrooms, high ceilings, billiard rooms, a wood-paneled library, a huge dining room, and a swimming pool, it’s no wonder why Cher and Bono were so mesmerized by the mansion.

Cher and Bono were quick to purchase the home and moved in just a week later, according to The Daily Mail. Pictures of the couple posing at the entrance of their new estate quickly began to circulate, leaving everyone to marvel at all of its beauty and glory. Unfortunately, Cher and Bono were struggling with their careers shortly after purchasing the home, and it was difficult for them to afford furniture to fill their mansion with. They even tried to sell the place in 1969.

Fortunately, Cher and Bono went on to debut a television show called “The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour” in 1971, and it was ultimately a hit with their fans and their bank accounts. Once again, they purchased a home from Curis, which was a mansion located at 141 S. Carolwood Drive in Holmby Hills, California.

The pair had actually first seen the home back in 1967, and Cher believed that they would one day live there, according to The Daily Mail. However, Bono was less on board with the idea. Nonetheless, they ended up buying the Holmby Hills mansion for $750,000 in 1974 and fully furnished it within just three days.

In January 2021, the Daily Mail reported that the home that once belonged to Curtis and later Cher and Bono was sold for $88 million. The residence was once listed for $180 million and was sold in an off-market deal in late December 2020. According to The Daily Mail, the mansion stood out for its design and its history of famous owners over the years.

The mansion was designed in 1936 by Robert D. Farquhar, who has also designed the Pentagon and the Beverly Hills High School, as per the Daily Mail. The home has two structures: a main house and a guest house — which makes for a total of nine bedrooms and ten bathrooms. There is also a regal foyer, a wood-paneled living room, and a suite with a fireplace. Adding to its luxury, the home also features a lounge, spa bathroom, tennis court, swimming pool, and spacious lawns.
