An 85-year old man in Lexington, Kentucky has been working at the same McDonald's for the past 40 years. Most people who are Wendall Gill's age would have retired a long time ago. No one seemed to question why he worked there for so long. It wasn't until an old friend named Todd began asking questions that the truth behind Wendall Gill's employment was revealed.

Todd began working at McDonald's in the summer of 1978 when he was a kid. That's where he met Wendall, who was a middle-aged man trying to make ends meet. Todd says Wendall is one the sweetest and kindest people he's ever met.

Like most people, Wendall has to pay the bills. Unlike most people, he has two special needs grandchildren he has to take care of. His wife of 68 years was always by his side no matter what. She helped him take care of the grandchildren. One day while they were at the McDonald's he works at, she excused herself to go to the bathroom. After being in there for a little too long, they decided to check on her. It was later revealed she suffered a stroke. Unfortunately, she did not make it and passed away.

Todd had never seen Wendall look so empty and crestfallen out of all the decades he's known the man. It was heartbreaking to see how devastated Wendall was.The worst part is that Wendall still has to work there. He has to work in the place where his beloved wife died. Todd immediately set up a GoFundMe page explaining Wendall's story to the world.

Wendall's two grandsons, 33-year old John with Autism, and 20-year old Justin with Infant Alcohol Syndrome are dependent on him to support them. Wendall only makes $600 which is not nearly enough to provide for himself, let alone his grandchildren. Besides money, now that his late wife is gone, he doesn't have the time to take care of all three of them. He couldn't even afford to honor his wife with a headstone.

Luckily, Todd continued spreading Wendall's story to the world. He wanted to raise enough money for Wendall to be able to take care of his family, pay off his van, and buy his wife, Dalla, a nice headstone. Todd believes Wendall should be able to retire and live out the rest of his days with his boys. Wendall shouldn't be stressing about where their next meal is coming from and should be able to take time to heal from his painful loss.

Todd didn't know what to expect from the GoFundMe page. He just prayed that Wendall would get some sort of aid. Todd's wish came true. People flocked to the GoFundMe page and were devastated to hear Wendall's heartbreaking story. People donated what they could to help support Wendall.

With the power of the internet and warm hearts, over $40,000 was raised for Wendall. Wendall has spent his entire life caring for others. Now it's time for Wendall to take the time to care about himself and those he cares most about in this world. He will now get to relax a little bit more and grieve the loss of his wife.
