The Great Ambrosia Salad Is Back Again
The Ambrosia Salad is one that combines multiple ingredients together to deliver a taste that is mesmerizing. For many people, it reminds them of a dish enjoyed at a family dinner. This salad is now trending once again with a variety of ingredients that you can add to make it your own.
Even though the name has salad in it, this isn't your typical salad dish with lettuce and tomatoes. Instead, it's creamy and can be made in a variety of colors depending on the ingredients that you use.
The basic recipe includes pecans, oranges, and cherries. When everything is combined with a cherry on top, the salad has a pastel pink hue from the cherries.
- 8 ounces cool whip, thawed
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
- 1 11 ounce can mandarin oranges, drained
- 1 8 ounce can pineapple tidbits, drained
- 1 cup maraschino cherries, drained
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans, optional
- 1 1/2 cups Mini Fruit-Flavored Marshmallows
Get a large bowl so that you can combine yogurt and whipped cream.
All of the other ingredients that are added are gently combined using a spatula.
Avoid mixing the ingredients together too much because it can break down the texture of the items that you use.
It can also make your salad a bit too watery.
The main ingredient is mini-marshmallows. The colored marshmallows work well with this recipe as they give it more color.
Small mandarin orange slices are an option as well instead of larger slices.
You can create a tropical salad by adding crushed pineapple and shredded coconut.
Put your bowl in the refrigerator to chill before you serve it in small dishes.
Watch as everything is combined together to result in a delicious dish that can be served for any occasion:
