The Duke of Cambridge Says Daughter Charlotte Tells People She Is 16 After Turning 6

Prince William attended an engagement on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, and answered questions about his family and Princess Charlotte’s recent birthday. The young daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated her birthday on May 2, 2021. Fortunately, William got the chance to share some information about the birthday while answering questions during the engagement.
William was at Babcock Vehicle Engineering in Walsall, England. The duke was there to learn about the work the company has done in keeping the police, military, other emergency services, civil service and other organizations operational during the pandemic. The company has also produced ventilators for the National Health Service and made air ambulances secure by fitting screens.
William shares three children with Kate Middleton, including Prince George, age 7, Princess Charlotte, who is now 6, and Prince Louis who recently turned 3 years old on April, 23, 2021. The duke shared that the family had spent the past weekend, and Charlotte’s birthday, at their country home in Norfolk. It is wonderful that the family makes an effort to spend so much time together despite living such busy lives.

Prince William was asked about Charlotte’s birthday by Jenna Jackson, the company's lead HR business partner. “She did (have a lovely birthday), thank you very much, yes. Unfortunately for her, obviously last year there was no birthday party because of lockdown, but this year (we had) one other family, so that was it. So it wasn't a party as such but we made it as fun for her as possible,” he said according to Hello Magazine.
The Duke of Cambridge answered more questions about Charlotte. It turns out she already sees herself as a teenager and therefore expects to be treated as such. “She’s 6, yeah. If you ask her, she says she's 16...Charlotte says, ‘I'm 6 now, I'll do what I want.’ It’s like, they grow up really fast,” he said according to Daily Mail.
The royal family Instagram account shared a photo of Princess Charlotte on her birthday. The caption of the post read, “Wishing Princess Charlotte a very happy sixth birthday today.” The post also gave credit to the Duchess of Cambridge for taking the photo. In the picture, Charlotte can be seen smiling widely with her hair down and a lovely green background. She was wearing an adorable Rachel Riley floral dress.
The popular children’s clothing brand has been dressing royal babies and children for over 25 years. “It was such a treat to see Princess Charlotte wearing our button front floral dress to mark her sixth birthday! She looks so happy in the picture,” the designer said to ELLE.

It seems that the Duke and Duchess’s daughter could model for the company after how often she is seen in their clothes. “Princess Charlotte wore a similar button-front dress of ours when she visited the garden her mother designed at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019. It's fun to see that this dress is a style which is as pretty on a four year old as it is for a six year old,” the designer added.
Riley continued with more details about the outfit in 2019. “The dress she wore when she was four featured a delicate, ditsy print in pastel pink, blue and yellow, whereas the style she wore in her most recent picture, she chose a larger print in stronger colors. This print has bigger pink flowers on a navy background, which is in keeping with the choice of older girls who tend to migrate towards bolder fashion choices,” the designer said.
It looks like another royal family fashion icon is on the way. “We look forward to seeing Princess Charlotte's style develop as she continues to grow and mature and we have no doubt she will become as much of a style icon as her mother is,” Riley said. Kate was voted the UK’s most influential style icon by Rakuten Marketing in 2016.
