The Driver Who Blocked A Family From Being Run Over At The Last Second Thinks It Was Meant To Be

If you think divine intervention is just something that took place in biblical times, then you haven’t seen what the Phoenix Police Department is calling “an angel in the form of a Chevy Cruz.”

The red light camera video shows a family of pedestrians destined for certain tragedy. A Jeep Renegade plows through a red light as the helpless family braces for their fate. Gabrielle Burns, her fiancé Ulysses Bentacourt, and their eleven-month-old son describe the emotion as ”paralyzing fear mixed with panic," according to 12 News. There’s no need to cover your eyes. As though directed by a divine hand, a Chevy Cruz enters the intersection knocking the Jeep out of the way.

Shannon Vivar, the 27-year-old driver of the Chevy, was inspired. ”Even though it wasn’t my intention to, the way I see it was, it was meant to happen that way,” she said in a press conference.

When the cars came to rest, the driver of the offending vehicle, 28-year-old Ernesto Otanez Oveso, threatened bystanders with a knife and attempted to flee. He was eventually apprehended and charged with aggravated assault, prohibited possession of a firearm, and four other unrelated warrants.

If not for Shannon Vivar, vehicular homicide could’ve been added to the list of charges.

No one expects to be happy about a car accident, but Shirley Vivar is. Shannon Vivar's mother considers the accident ”a blessing." She said what appeared to be the “wrong time, wrong place” really was the “right time, right place" in a press conference.

Was this a case of divine intervention or just simple luck? It makes you wonder. Consider this and tell us what you think.
