"The Christmas Chronicles" was one of the favorite movies of 2018 for many. Kurt Russell starred in this Netflix film as Santa Claus in a touching story about a pair of half-orphans who look to record the jolly old man making his rounds on Christmas Eve and end up having an adventure with him instead. Fans of the original are now celebrating the recent announcement that "The Christmas Chronicles 2" is in production. Kurt and Goldie Hawn, who played Mrs. Claus in the original, are to return along with several others from the original cast.

Netflix announced that it'll be released in time for the 2020 holiday season. Of course, some were disappointed that it was not in time for this year's holiday season with crying emojis being included in replies to this announcement. However, this delay does give fans of the original a year of anticipation prior to the sequel's release.

Goldie communicated her excitement with a tweet, which said that she was so happy to once again be working with her "real life Santa." She included a beautiful picture of the two.

Chris Columbus, who was a producer with the first film and is directing its sequel, told People magazine that working with the cast in the original movie was "really, really fun" and that it was so great that there was "a tremendous amount of respect there and ... love and trust."

The child stars of the first film – Darby Camp (Kate) and Judah Lewis (Teddy) – will return for the sequel. So will Kimberly Williams Paisley, who played their widowed mother, Claire.

The original film received mostly positive reviews with those who are either especially in the mood for a Christmas movie or who are fans of Kurt Russell being particularly pleased by what it delivered. Meanwhile, Netflix announced that it received 20 million streams its first week after release.
