Nov 07, 2022 by apost team

“Friends” was one of the most critically acclaimed sitcoms that aired in the '90s. The iconic television sitcom landscape was changed ever since its release.

The show, which went down as one of the most popular television series in American history, has won countless awards, accolades and fans over the show’s 10-year run from 1994 to 2004. On paper, the show might seem rather ordinary. As its name suggests, the show revolves around a group of six friends — Rachel Green (Jennifer Anniston), Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry) and Ross Geller (David Schimmer) — as they live life as young adults in New York City. The show follows the ensemble cast as they date each other, move in together and further their careers in Manhattan.

The show was highly acclaimed and often features on the highest-ranked TV series of all time lists. It also aired one of the most-watched television episodes in history: the series finale, which attracted 52.5 million viewers. To say the least, that means the NBC show has its fair share of fans.

On May 27, 2021, the hit show returned for a one-time television special, “Friends: The Reunion,” which aired on HBO Max. The show saw the reunion of the much-beloved gang sitting together again on the iconic orange sofa in front of the equally iconic fountain.

But since their highly-talked-about reunion special, the “Friends” cast members have returned to their respective career paths, each one different from their own character’s ending. Read on to learn more about where the cast members of “Friends” are now and what they are up to.

Lisa Kudrow

Kudrow’s portrayal of the ditzy Phoebe Buffay is one of the show’s many highlights. While she is not singing on the streets anymore, nor is she performing “Smelly Cat,” Kudrow’s career has been nothing but successful since she originated the role. Recently, Kudrow, 59, starred in a Disney Plus original film, “Better Nate Than Ever,” along with Joshua Bassett and Rueby Wood, as struggling Broadway actress Aunt Heidi. She will also be starring in the American horror-comedy film “The Parenting” with Nik Dodani, Brandon Flynn, Brian Cox and Edie Falco

Courteney Cox

Cox, 58, had been very busy since departing the role of the perfectionist Monica Geller on “Friends.” She is continuing her work as a film and television actress. She has reprised one of her iconic roles in film in the slasher film franchise “Scream.” She is currently working on the movie’s sixth installment after appearing in the fifth film, which was released in January 2022. Cox is also behind an upcoming adaptation of the successful Netflix documentary series “Last Chance U,” which will see her both perform in the main role and as a producer.

Jennifer Aniston

Aniston, 53, is by far the most successful and busy among the friend group. She went on to bag bigger roles that continue to highlight her acting prowess and commendable comedic timing. Among the films she has starred in are: “Bruce Almighty,” “We’re The Millers” and “Marley & Me," among others. The most recent film she worked on was with Adam Sandler in the Netflix hit “Murder Mystery,” and she's currently working on the film’s sequel to be released in 2023.

Matt LeBlanc

The famous Joey Tribbiani is doing well if you would ask. After reprising his role in the well-loved “Friends” spin-off “Joey,“ LeBlanc, 55, has remained on a steady pace as he continues his work in television and film. In 2011, he portrayed a fictionalized version of himself on the British-American sitcom “Episodes,” which earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy and a couple of Primetime Emmy nominations. Although he divorced his wife Melissa McKnight in 2006, he is happily raising his 18-year-old daughter, Marina Pearl LeBlanc.

Matthew Perry

Who didn’t love Perry as Chandler Bing? Perry, 53, flourished after “Friends” and began a run on many other sitcoms on NBC in the past few years. Aside from acting, he has also become engrossed in producing and directing his own shows, including “The Odd Couple,” “Mr. Sunshine” and “Go On.” Perry also went on to do important work in inspiring others to follow through with their recovery from substance abuse. He even became a spokesperson for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals and received a Champion of Recovery award from The White House in 2013.

David Schwimmer

Although we may not agree with Ross Geller most of the time, we could very well agree that Schwimmer, 56, is nothing but fantastic in his role on the FX true crime anthology series “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.” His performance as the late Robert Kardashian even earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, alongside other contenders like John Travolta and Sterling K. Brown. Schwimmer is also swimming in British seas as an NSA Agent on the Sky One series “Intelligence.”
