Thai Pageant Queen Kneels Before Her ‘Garbage Collector’ Mother To Thank Her For Raising Her

Khanitta “Mint” Phasaeng is a young girl who lives in Thailand. Mint won a prestigious beauty pageant in her country two years ago.

Someone captured a photo of Mint kneeling to show respect for her mother after the contest and the display of respect went viral.

Mint traveled to her hometown immediately following the contest to show her respect. She was still wearing her sash and crown when she kneeled before her mother. The photo was uploaded by a Thai radio station and the internet did the rest.

People everywhere appreciated the gesture from the young beauty queen. In Thailand, to take to your hands and knees while bowing is the highest honor that can be given to an elder.

Mint's mother is a garbage collector. The beauty queen she says she regularly helps her mother with her job. Mint explains her mother works at an honest profession and is sure to proclaim the pride she feels for the woman who raised her.

Mint explains she always had food to eat growing up and was able to complete high school because of the work her mother performs.

She says for her and her mother every baht earned means a lot. Mint says she will never allow herself to feel inferior because of the work she and her mother perform. She says everything she has today is a result of that work.

Mint's mom divorced when Mint was very young. A lack of money prevented her from completing her education and she was forced to live a life of poverty. Mint said the feelings she had when she was announced the winner of the pageant were indescribable.

She says it is a long-time dream that finally came true for her.

Mint says we should never forget where we came from or the people who helped us on our roads to success. And most importantly, never forget to show gratitude to your parents.
