Usain Bolt is widely known as the fastest man in the world. The Jamaican holds multiple world records and has won eight gold medals in the Olympics. He's been World Champion in multiple races for a total of 11 times.

However, he might not be the fastest man for long. A Texas teenager is poised to challenge his crown. At a recent meet in Houston, the young man ran the 100m race just a hair slower than Usain.

Matthew Boling, at a mere 18 years of age, missed Bolt's record-setting time by .4 second. Yes, that's right -- by less than half a second. His total time for the 100m race? An astonishing 9.98 seconds.

This is a new record for Americans in his age group. Usain holds the current world record in the 100m with 9.58 seconds, which he set in 2009. His speed earned him the nickname "Lightning Bolt."

Matthew Boling's incredible time in the 100m has earned him a nickname as well -- "White Lightning." The Strake Jesuit College Prep senior caused hearts to stop with his performance.

As soon as the race began, he pulled away from the other young men, finishing strides ahead. It wasn't even close.

He hopes to continue this streak. His ultimate goal is to represent the United States in the 2020 Olympics.

Judging by his blazing speed and determination now, he's right on track.
