People who contend teenagers are selfish paint young people with an unfortunately broad brush. A great many teenagers are conscientious people who wish to do good for friends and family. Some might even take selfless steps to help strangers in need.
A young woman in Texas could have enjoyed all the gifts and perks that come from a high school graduation celebration. Instead of being self-centered, Leanne Carrasco chose to help the homeless. She threw a big pizza party for local homeless women and children.
As ABC 13 reported, the pizza party took place at the Star of Hope Center, a shelter located in Houston. Leanne sprung for 90 pizzas for the 200 residents of the shelter. In addition to giving them pizza, she provided 400 personal hygiene kits.

Her charitable, selfless giving did not go unnoticed. The news media reported on the event, which provided some valuable publicity. The publicity gives Leanne a nice gesture of thanks, and it also does something more. The reports raise awareness about local homeless people and their plight.
Hopefully, the stories moved some viewers into thinking about how they can help the homeless.
Leanne did what she did not only to provide direct assistance to the women and children in need; she wanted them to know that there are people out there who care. Sometimes, showing you care gives people a feeling of hope. Leanne intends to go to nursing school in Iowa after graduation.
As she told ABC 13, "It’s very fulfilling to know that I’m able to help others instead of just helping myself."
Do your small part to raise awareness about the homeless and give kudos to Leanne for her caring act of kindness. Let everyone who follows you hear about the tale.
