But recently, a school official in Louisiana was handed a frightening note by an 11-year-old student. CNN reports on what happened.

The note described a terrifying situation written by the student's mother. She was scared to leave a trailer that she was trapped in by a family acquaintance, Donald Ray Guy. It turns out it was basically a hostage situation.

East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Jeff Travis said the woman was trapped for weeks.

Travis was able to secure a search warrant so that officers could enter the home. The police showed up at the trailer and found the mom who wrote the note and two of Guy's relatives inside. They also found Guy hiding in a closet.

The child's mother was found unharmed and Guy was arrested. Guy is facing numerous charges. At the time of his arrest, he possessed a number of outstanding arrest warrants. He is being held without bail.

What's more, is that the mom and child were reunited. It was a happy ending for the victims involved all thanks to the clever thinking of one woman.
