Terminal Veteran Living In Florida Given Final Wish Of Making A Snow Angel
Jan 02, 2020 by apost team
Albert Septien is a 76-year-old Vietnam War vet who had been suffering from terminal cancer. When he learned that he didn't have much longer to live, there was one request that he had. The Flordia native wanted to make a snow angel.
Tragically, doctors diagnosed Albert with melanoma. He recently learned that the stage 4 cancer had been worsening since the month before. Albert was told by a doctor that this coming Christmas was probably the last he would be able to spend with family and friends.
Albert's family struggled with the news, but they knew that this Christmas had to be as special as possible. They wanted to give their loved one something that he wanted more than anything, so they asked him what kind of gift he'd like. He smiled and said that he only wanted to take advantage of the holiday season and make a snow angel, reported The Daily Mail.

Unfortunately, Florida doesn't see snowfall much during the year. The family turned toward the Tampa Bay community for some help. Many volunteers started gathering ice to help bring this dream to life.
In Albert's front yard, volunteers helped to create around 8 tons of artificial snow by using many bags of ice. When everything was prepared, they helped Albert outside to see the wonderful creation. The moment he saw all of the snow, the veteran began to cry, The Daily Mail continued.
Albert not only received his last wish, but he was able to realize it while surrounded by all of the people he loved most. His friends and family were there to help him celebrate such a meaningful moment.
Albert spoke with WFLA about the experience. He said it was "really good" to feel the coldness of the snow. Even though his clothes were soaked through entirely, he still thought it was great.
Albert thinks that he developed cancer when he came across Agent Orange in the 60s during his tour in Vietnam. Throughout his years of struggling with cancer, Albert's treatments have made his skin burn. Laying down on the cold ground felt very nice for him.
Joe Maestre, Albert's cousin, said that there were no words to describe Albert's facial expression when he looked at the snow for the first time. He had a massive smile on his face and tears of happiness were rolling down his cheeks, said The Daily Mail. It was a special moment for Albert and his whole family.
