These two dads have shown that it's never too late to become parents, and it's never too late to get a new family. Chad and Paul Beanblossom from Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, have adopted 17-year-old Michael. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they had to celebrate by holding the adoption ceremony on Zoom with 80 loved ones in attendance.

The official ceremony took place on May 1st, and for those who couldn't be there in person, the ceremony was conducted on the video conferencing app Zoom, so that no one would miss out. According to GMA, a total of 80 people joined the video call, including friends, family, and adoption specialists.

Chad and Paul made sure there were treats to mark the occasion. They had a special cake printed with Michael’s name and adoption date on and they decorated the backdrop with an "it’s a boy!" banner.

The past five years have been extremely turbulent for Michael. He'd lived in a total of nine different homes and had been put under the "higher risk" category as he’d previously run away from foster homes, Chad told GMA. He'd also gotten into a bit of trouble and ended up spending time in state custody.

The dads are thrilled to be adopting Michael, despite it being so late in his life. "He may not be perfect, but he’s perfect for us. This young man has changed our lives so much (for the better) and I know that I have personally learned so much from him as well," Chad wrote on Facebook.

Chad and Paul have been able to give Michael experiences he's never had before. They took him fishing, and even brought him to watch his first ever live football game, the dads told WBIR, as reported by People magazine. Chad and Paul have had many other foster kids in their care before they met Michael, but there was something special about him that meant they felt compelled to be his dads—and when he asked them to be his fathers forever, they already knew the answer.

"Regardless of the kid’s age, they want love. They want family. They want normalcy," Chad told WBIR, as reported by People. This is definitely something we can agree with, and we are sure the security and happiness Michael feels in his new family is inspiration for us all.
