In the Book of Matthew, Jesus says “ask and it will be given unto you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Most adherents to the world’s many faiths, whether it be Christianity, Judaism, or any other religion, believe that God not only created the universe but also cares deeply for each and every person.

Whether you believe in God or not, it is hard to discount the power of prayer. The world is full of individuals who testify with all their might that God answered their prayers and saved them from difficult situations.

Now, two Florida teens are among those who firmly believe that God answered their prayers.

Tyler Smith and Heather Brown are two students at Christ’s Church Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. Childhood friends, the two decided to spend their Senior Skip Day together swimming at the nearby Vilano Beach.

While they were trying to swim to a nearby island, Tyler and Heather eventually found themselves swept up in the current. Nearly two miles from shore, the friends began panicking as they got further and further from safety.

Desperate, Tyler began to pray. Speaking with reporters from local news station WJAX, Tyler recalled how he begged God for help:

“I cried out, 'if you really do have a plan for us, like, come on. Just bring something.'” Smith said.

At that moment, Tyler saw a ship with “Amen” printed on the bow. Heather began frantically swimming to the boat.

The owner of the Amen, Eric Wagner, was sailing his boat with his crew from Florida to New Jersey when they came upon the two teens.

Helping them aboard, Eric covered Tyler and Heather with blankets before calling the Coast Guard. Other than suffering from exhaustion and being extremely cold, Tyler and Heather came out of the ordeal unscathed.

When the group spoke to reporters later, they all agreed that the happy outcome was the work of God. Heather told reporters of how her first words after being pulled onto the boat were “God is real.”

Tyler agreed, saying that the only reason they survived was that God answered their prayers.

"There's no other reason, no other explanation in the world other than God," he told WJAX.

Eric Wagner also felt that he was put there by God to help Tyler and Heather. The sailor said that there were too many coincidences for the entire situation to be anything but divine intervention.
