Teenager Hears Cry For Help As He Played Video Games Online Which Resulted In Him Saving Somebody's Life

The media constantly bombards people with the dangers of video games, particularly when it comes to online gaming. However, there can also be benefits that comes as a result of putting yourself out there to the gaming community

Reilly Howard is only 14 years old but he has already found a way to harness the connections made in gaming for good. He recently met a 13-year-old boy from Florida while playing an online game. One night while playing, the boy was so upset that he could hardly get his words out to Reilly. Because he was so concerned, Reilly pressed the boy on what was wrong. The Florida boy said that he was going to take his life that night.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Reilly kept the boy on the line because he did not want to be alone and do something drastic. Reilly decided to get on the phone and talk with him for hours.

During the important conversation, Reilly was able to convince him to call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Reilly's parents then arrived home and they were able to help to control the situation.

Reilly's mom, Sheila Reilly, said that teenagers often think that nobody will listen to them. But she wants teens to know that they can have a significant impact on the world and the people in it.

The East Hampton Board of Education is so proud of Reilly for stepping up and saving a life that they are honoring him with a special award reports Inside Edition.
