As an infant, Jamarion Styles lost both of his arms due to a serious infection. While Jamarion tried hard to live the best life possible, some people doubted his abilities and made it difficult for him to succeed, rejecting him from community sports teams.

The young man refused to let this dissuade him, and became a brilliant athlete at his middle school, Eagles Landing Middle School in Florida.

As a 13-year-old, Jamarion’s biggest dream was to play basketball. Jamarion would go to the community center every week, trying out for the team but always being sent back home.

Jamarion says that he was always the one left out when teams were being formed and that he would be told to just “go home”.

Despite the constant opposition, Jamarion was determined that he would have the chance to play basketball no matter what. He had practiced and played at home, proving to himself that he can shoot and dribble when he is given the opportunity, as reported here by CBS News.

When Jamarion started Eagles Landing Middle School, he finally got his big break. He went to the basketball coach Darian Williams and asked if he would be able to play on the team. While the coach admits that he wasn’t sure how it would be possible for the disabled boy to play, he urged him to go on and try out for the team no matter what.

To everyone’s total surprise, Jamarion made the team and was finally able to wear a basketball jersey.

Once Jamarion proved himself, the doors began to open and he was given the chance to play both basketball and volleyball. Now, Jamarion is in high school and is even a member of the football team.

We are so proud of this boy and his ability to overcome his disabilities, proving to everyone that he can succeed no matter what. What do you and your friends and family think of Jamarion and his determination to play sports?
