Teen Who Doesn't Know She's Pregnant Goes Into Coma And Wakes Up With A Baby

A young woman named Ebony Stevenson was living the typical life of a college student. She focused on her social life and her studies, like many girls her age. She was only 18, so starting a family was not on her mind. But sometimes life brings us things we never expected.

In December of 2018, Ebony was heading to bed after a bad migraine had hit her. She eventually developed seizures from an unknown cause. Her mother called paramedics, alerting them to her daughter's crisis. They rushed to the scene and brought her to the hospital.

There she was placed into a medically induced coma in order to save her life. When she awoke three days later, she could never have anticipated the news she would receive. Ebony had not only been pregnant without knowing it, but she had also given birth while she is in a coma. This shocking discovering took place because of a rare phenomenon.

While being examined, they had asked if she was pregnant. To this, the mother replied that it was not possible. Even though she was showing a slight bump, there had been no signs. Ebony never missed a period or had morning sickness. There was no way she would have suspected that she was pregnant.

They eventually realized that her seizures were due to preeclampsia, a complication of pregnancy that causes high blood pressure and high protein in the urine. Even though it defied all logic, Ebony had been pregnant and now required a cesarean section.

According to the Independent, they did not know for sure until they discovered she had a rare condition where she was born with an extra uterus. This uterus had gone unnoticed and shifted towards her back. One uterus continued to menstruate while the other held her baby.

Because of the backward facing uterus, a large bump never developed. Thus, her symptoms remained hidden from her. Her baby was born on December 3rd and named Elodie. When she was born, her mother was still in a coma. When Ebony woke up, she was shocked at the news and could not believe it.

Until her mother explained things to her, it was simply too much to understand. But Elodie was a miracle baby.

Soon, Ebony and Elodie were bonding. Ebony's condition is rare, and many women who have it struggle to get pregnant.
