Teen Girl Stuns With Breathtaking Graduation Gown She Sewed And Painted Herself

A 17-year-old Filipino girl made a splash with a graduation gown she sewed and designed herself with the help of her mother. As any girl wants her graduation party dress to be memorable and very special, Cara Gan wanted her dress to make a special statement.
She first set out to have the dress made by someone else. When she was less than satisfied with that result, she still had plenty of time so she enlisted her mother's help with sewing and went on to design her own creation.
It took her and her mother a full month to sew each panel of the dress together. Cara hand-painted a beautiful array of lilies on the dress, and added crystals for a dazzling effect.
In an statement to TODAY she said:
"My dress tells a very personal story about the things I hold close to my heart — lilies, the color green, painting, and creating new things.”

This is not the first time Cara has designed her own dress. Last year, for her junior prom she also embellished the skirt portion of her dress with a glittering array of crystals.
She reported that she loves doing projects with her mother. Not only does it bring them closer together to share doing something they both enjoy so much, but it makes her able to get the exact result she wants since she can be totally honest with her mom about the exact effect she's seeking.
Cara's posted a video describing the process of creating the gown on youtube which has since gone viral and currently boasts over 4 million views. This might very well be the beginning of a career in fashion design for Cara.
