Master Deputy Shane Robbins was killed while on duty in 2013, after 15 years on the job at the Sheriff's Department in Polk County, FL. He left behind his daughter, Carlie. The two were very close, so on her prom day she visited his grave and ensured she took some photos there so she had a memory of him with her on the special day.
According to Bay News 9, Robbins was killed in a single-car accident when he was only 40. He was survived by his wife, Alisa, and five children. Robbins had a difficult job working in the Special Victims Unit, where he specialized in investigating crimes against children. His colleagues remember him fondly as a great cop, a fabulous father, an excellent husband, and a generally all-round good guy.
His daughter, Carlie, was a daddy's girl and formed a strong emotional bond with her father over the years. His loss was devastating to his family, and in particular, to Carlie. By coincidence, her prom fell on the night of the fifth anniversary of Robbin's death. She was sad that her dad wouldn't be able to see her dress or tell her to have a good time on this momentous occasion.

In some communities, prom, short for promenade, is regarded as the event marking a teenager's transition to adulthood and is very important in the local culture. The dance is usually held towards the end of the senior year for students who are about to graduate from high school.
Carlie came up with a brilliant plan. She set up a photo shoot at her father's grave so her father could "see" her in her prom dress. In some of the photos taken at the gravesite, Carlie is in her fancy, glittering prom dress while in others, she is wearing her father's uniform. After the shoot, Carlie went on to prom and had a great time, reports Bay News 9.
