A teenager has made headlines for lifting an entire Volkswagen off his crushed neighbor.

Zac Clark, a 16-year-old football player in Ohio, was helping his mother in the front yard when he heard a woman scream from across the street. He ran over and was horrified to see his neighbor pinned beneath his car.

According to witnesses, the man had been doing repairs under the vehicle when it slipped off its jack and started to crush him. Only his legs were visible as they thrashed desperately beneath 3,000 pounds of metal. His head, chest and abdomen were completely pinned.

Zac sprung into action. Bending low, he gripped the bumper of the car and lifted with all of his might. "I could just see the determination in his face," his mother later told reporters.

In an amazing feat of strength, Zac was able to lift the car high enough for his mother and his neighbor's wife to pull the man to safety. The vehicle was a Volkswagen Passat weighing 3,000 pounds. Zac's lifting record at the gym was 400 pounds.

"It was God's moment," his mother said. "It was unbelievable."

The man was rushed to the hospital, but thanks to Zac's quick response, he emerged from the incident with nothing more than a few cracked ribs and some assorted bruises. Doctors say that it could've been a lot worse. With so much weight and pressure holding him down, the man could've died within minutes.

News of Zac's heroism quickly spread through his Ohio town. His football coach posted about it on Facebook; the local media ran stories and interviews. Soon enough, national media outlets were covering the story.

Zach isn't letting the attention get to his head, however. He says that he "thanks God" for being in the right place at the right time, especially after suffering the loss of his own father in 2018.

Rodney Clark was a devoted family man who'd been coaching Zac as a wrestler and football player for years. He died unexpectedly during a family trip, and Zac has been training hard as an athlete to honor his memory.

He credits his father for giving him the strength to help his neighbor. "I wanted to save another dad," he said.
