Teen Boys "Beach Ball" Dance Takes Talent Show To Comedic Level

For the JL Crowe Variety Show held in February 2015, two teen boys Nolan and Jayden performed their beach ball dance.

To some, courage is racing to the front lines of a raging battle. To Nolan and Jaden, it’s tutu dancing with a beach ball in front of a live, enthusiastic audience. Although they didn’t invent beach ball dancing, they have certainly put their own spin on the ball.

It begins with their costumes if what they are wearing can be called that. Bare-chested, they strut forth in stiff crinoline pink and purple tutus and striped knee-high socks. For a moment it seems they will lose their composure completely when they look at each other and start laughing, but they pull it together and manage to put on ‘serious ballerina’ faces.

Then comes the beach ball. The basic choreography seems to be to move the ball around without their hands, instead of squeezing it between them as they attempt to gracefully dance. They do great at moving the ball. The graceful part needs a little work.

They hold the ball by each placing an arm on it, and then they slowly sashay closer together and further apart. With surprising dexterity that hints at a lot of practice, the boys maneuver themselves back, pressing the ball between them until they manage to circle completely.

The crowd roars and Total Eclipse of the Heart plays on. They continue with another kind of circle, keeping the ball between them as they tread little mincing ballet steps in a vain attempt to appear more ballerina-like.

Then things ramp up as they go for their most ambitious and risqué move yet. They face each other, the ball between their chests. The idea is that one will slowly lower himself in front of the other, pulling the ball along with him, crawl under the other’s legs, and come up the other side with the ball between their backs.

But the best-laid plans sometimes go astray, and after losing the beach ball and their composure (twice!), they do a quick fix and jump to the end stance, back to back.

In another sequence that must have taken a lot of rehearsals, the young men bounce the ball back and forth with their heads, gradually moving further and then closer to each other until they end up in the same chest-ball-chest sandwich they started with.

After the success with the beach ball, they catch a ping pong ball from the side stage and put it between their chests, looking at each other they decide to not take it any further.

The crowd cheers and tosses the beach ball around the audience, and the brave ballerinas take their well-earned applause. They definitely have courage! What do you think about the boy's performance? Tell us in the comments and pass this story on to your friends for entertainment.
