Teacher Creates Dolls With Glittery Hearing Aids For Deaf Students

Children have been playing with dolls for countless generations, and they have enjoyed substantial benefits as a result. Some children prefer to play with dolls that look like them in some way because it builds confidence and improves self-image. Unfortunately, many dolls on the market today appeal to the masses. As a result, they leave out many children who have more unique traits and characteristics.

Genesis Politron is a teacher who works with preschoolers and kindergarteners who have auditory challenges. She realized that all of the dolls in her classroom did not represent her students, who often wore different types of hearing aids. She decided to do something about it.

One day, she used some supplies in her room to add glittery hearing ads and cochlear implants to the dolls that her students normally played with. When the children entered the room the following day, they were thrilled by what they discovered. More than that, their faces have continued to light up each time they play with them.

Genesis decided to share her idea online so that other parents and caregivers of children with similar impairments can follow suit. Many adults who grew up without these dolls took the time to comment about how dolls like these would have helped them growing up.

This is a simple and thoughtful gesture that likely did not require much time or effort. Nonetheless, Genesis has touched the lives of those in her classroom as well as countless others who have benefited from her social media post.
