She sat down with the press to speak about recent developments in her career like new music and a new documentary called "Miss Americana". The conversation turned personal when she revealed for the first time publicly that her mom has a brain tumor.

“Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom. But for me, she’s really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness," she said to Variety, referencing the fact that her mom Andrea is also her manager.

Variety notes that Taylor shared a few years ago that Andrea was battling cancer, and Taylor mentioned that the tumor was found during treatment.

“While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumor," she continued. "And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before. So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family.”

The recent diagnosis was a driving force to keep her upcoming "Lover" tour dates limited, reports ET. The album also featured a song about her mom's cancer battle entitled "Soon You'll Get Better."

With her mom's ongoing health battle, audiences would be searching for a sign of her status in the "Miss Americana" doc, which premieres on January 23 at the Sundance Film Festival before being released on Netflix on January 31st. There is reportedly a scene where Andrea flies in the face of cancer by getting a dog and defying the pattern of the Swift family owning cats. It is a light-hearted moment in the dark days of a cancer-battle and will hopefully be a sign of good times to come.

Stay strong Taylor. Sending best wishes to her and her family at this time. Please pass on the news to others who might be Taylor Swift fans.
