Tampa Bay Bride Asks Bridesmaids To Walk Down The Aisle With Shelter Puppies Instead Of Flowers

There are three things often talked about at weddings – the bride's dress, the food, and the flower arrangements.

Picking out the floral arrangements, bridesmaids' bouquets, and bridal bouquet is one of the highlights of planning a wedding. For one bride in Florida, she decided to do something a little different for her floral arrangements.

Andee Ondina has waited 32 years to marry the love of her life – her partner Tina. Instead of having her bridesmaids carry traditional floral bouquets as they walked down the aisle, Andee chose to showcase adorable, adoptable puppies.

Since Andee used to work in a shelter, animals are near and dear to her heart. Puppies, in particular, have always struck a chord with this animal lover.

While working at the shelter, Andee often had to transfer puppies that weren't adopted within a certain time frame to other shelters. Unfortunately, some of those other shelters were killing shelters, where dogs that don't get adopted are euthanized.

Andee made it her mission to turn her wedding into a crusade for shelter dogs everywhere. She wanted to bring awareness to the many dogs awaiting homes in shelters and she thought having her bridesmaids carry puppies instead of flowers was the perfect way to do that.

It just so happens that Nate's Honor Animal Rescue had ten puppies awaiting adoption. Andee knew that they were the exact addition she needed for her wedding since they needed a total of ten "puppquets."

Andee and her bridesmaids carried the adorable puppies- who were each adorned with a wooden floral collar- down the aisle on her big day. Awaiting Andee was the love of her life and several wedding guests who were interested in adopting the cute puppies.

Not only did Andee and her partner, Tina, adopt one of the puppies, but two of their wedding guests also plan on adopting puppies as soon as they are released at 8 weeks old. Andee's unique idea stole the hearts of her wedding guests and people around the world who have been touched by her story. It also brought awareness to the many cute, adoptable puppies sitting in shelters everywhere.

What do you think of Andee's 'puppquet' idea? Do you think it was the perfect addition to her wedding, or was it too unusual? If you love shelter dogs as much as Andee and want to spread awareness, be sure to pass this story along.
