Sylvester Stallone is one of Hollywood’s living legends. Throughout his career, Stallone has made a name for himself for playing tough-guy characters, such as John Rambo in "First Blood", Rocky Balboa in the "Rocky" series, and Barney Ross in "The Expendables." What audiences don’t know about Stallone is that he also has a very big heart.

Fans of the original 1976 "Rocky" film will remember that the southpaw owned a pair of turtles, Cuff and Link, that he bought from his love interest Adrian Pennino, who was played by actress Talia Shire.

Audiences were surprised to see the two turtles reappear in "Creed II", a continuation of the Rocky series that features Balboa mentoring the son of his former rival Apollo Creed.

To make sure that audiences fully understood that they were the same turtles, Stallone posted a photo of the duo in their tank to Instagram. Stallone further revealed that Cuff and Link are about 44 years old now. You can watch their original "Rocky" scene in the video below.

Followers of Stallone were greatly pleased by his post, which has amassed nearly 400,000 likes.

Most commentators are happy that Cuff and Link are still around, with one user saying that it was the best piece of news he received all year. It should be noted that pet turtles have an average lifespan of anywhere from 40 to 50 years according to PetMD.

Cuff and Link aren’t the only animals from Stallone’s films that he has cared for throughout the years. The actor used to own Butkus, a bull mastiff that appeared in the first two Rocky films. Stallone’s relationship with Butkus nearly came to a tragic end when he had to give away the pup.

Writing to his fans on Instagram, Stallone revealed that when he was still a struggling actor, he had to give up Butkus because he couldn’t afford to care for the dog. All that changed when studio executives bought the script for Rocky, after which he was able to get Butkus back. Stallone continued that the person who owned Butkus then was well aware of his newfound success and made the actor buy Butkus for $15,000. Despite the hefty price tag, Stallone says that Butkus was worth every cent.
