Sylvester Stallone Jokes He’s Stuck Working At 80 & Only Has One Person To Blame

Sylvester Stallone may be a Hollywood legend, but even an action star like him has a reason to keep clocking in. The 80-year-old actor revealed that his eldest daughter, Sophia Stallone, is getting married—and he had a wedding bill to prepare for!
Sophia is the eldest of Sylvester’s three daughters with Jennifer Flavin, whom he married in 1997. The couple also have two daughters, Sistine, 28, and Scarlet, 24. Sylvester has two sons, Seargeoh and the late Sage, from his previous marriage to Sasha Czack.
The actor has previously spoken about his special relationship with Sophia. In a 2012 interview with Paris Match, Flavin noted that her eldest daughter shares a particularly close bond with her father, explaining that the two think alike and even have similar gestures.
The wedding news has also brought out a more sentimental side of the action star. During a Sept. 27, 2026, appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Sylvester admitted that watching Sophia prepare to start a new chapter in her life was an emotional experience.
“It’s hard for me to say it because, like, it’s time to have a, you know, new life of her own,” he said, while discussing her engagement.
Despite finding the transition difficult, Sylvester expressed confidence in her fiancé, Michael Sheehan, describing him as a “stand-up guy” who is “great, good-looking” and has “got everything going.”
The actor’s comments came after Sophia, 30, announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend, Sheehan, in August 2026. The couple shared the happy news on social media, with Sophia posting photographs of the romantic proposal and captioning them, “Forever with my best friend.”
Her famous father also celebrated the milestone, sharing photographs of the newly engaged couple and expressing his excitement about their future together.
“We are so ecstatic about the engagement of our daughter Sophia to Michael!” Sylvester wrote in his own Instagram post.

During an appearance on “Live with Kelly and Mark” on Oct. 13, 2026, Sylvester opened up about Sophia’s upcoming nuptials and joked that retirement would have to wait until after the big day.
When co-host Kelly Ripa asked how much he planned to contribute to the wedding, the “Rambo” star had a hilarious response.
“Oh man, it’s almost embarrassing to say, but I can’t retire,” he said, prompting laughter from the studio audience.
Sylvester doubled down, adding, “I can’t retire, I’m serious!”
Although the actor quickly joked about the financial responsibilities of hosting a wedding, he made it clear he approves of his daughter’s future husband.
During his television appearance, Sylvester revealed that Sheehan had personally asked for his blessing before proposing to Sophia.
“He came into the room … he actually asked for her hand,” the actor explained.
Ripa joked that Sheehan must have been terrified to approach the father of the bride-to-be, given Sylvester’s tough-guy on-screen reputation.
However, Sylvester said his future son-in-law was remarkably confident during the encounter.
“He was very confident and I went, ‘Wow, good luck, pal,’” he recalled, adding that his wife, Flavin, had to be present as the “referee.”
The proud father even tried to offer the couple an alternative to an extravagant wedding, suggesting they head to Las Vegas instead.
“I said, ‘Why don’t you guys go to Vegas? I’ll give you the money. Have Elvis marry you for $5 … and take what I would have spent,’” Sylvester joked.
It remains unclear whether the couple will take him up on the suggestion, but his comments made one thing certain: he is preparing to celebrate his daughter’s big day in style.
Meanwhile, Sylvester shows no signs of slowing down professionally. He continues to star in “Tulsa King,” the crime drama in which he plays Dwight “The General” Manfredi. The series has also given him the opportunity to work alongside his youngest daughter, Scarlet, who plays Spencer.
For now, however, one of Sylvester’s biggest upcoming roles seems to be a proud father preparing to celebrate his daughter’s wedding — even if it means postponing his retirement plans a little longer.
