A Missouri woman was rightfully terrified when she realized that a brown recluse spider had been living in her ear.

Susie Torres thought she simply had water in her ear that she could not get rid of. After becoming annoyed with the constant swishing sounds, she decided to seek help from the doctor.

A medical assistant was the first person to check out Susie's left ear, reports KSHB. The assistant quickly rushed out of the room, telling Susie that she needed more help because she suspected that there was an insect inside of the ear.

Susie tried not to panic, even though she was deathly terrified of spiders. The medical professionals were eventually able to remove the venomous spider from the ear.

This type of arachnid is a species of venomous spider found throughout the southern and midwest portions of the country. The brown recluse is widely considered to be one of the most dangerous spiders in America. Bite symptoms include itching, fever, nausea, and muscle pain.

Although the venom of the brown recluse is not considered to be deadly, its bites can lead to serious complications if not treated properly and quickly. Susie was lucky that the spider never bit her while taking up residence in her ear.

"I never thought they would crawl in your ear or any part of your body," Susie said to KSHB.

Susie is understandably more cautious these days. She said that she is sleeping with cotton balls in her ears and continually shaking off her clothes.
