The British people have spoken. After a British tabloid recently conducted a poll to find out which royal wedding over the last 50 years was the public's favorite, the results were overwhelmingly in favor of one particular couple.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles married in 1981 with a record of 750 million people from around the world tuning in to watch them wed according to the BBC. Even with these staggering numbers, almost 40 years later, the British public has settled on another royal wedding that won their hearts.

The poll was conducted by Express.co.uk on July 28th from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The survey asked: "Which is your favorite British royal wedding over the last 50 years?"Over 20,000 people secured their votes as they picked from the list of royal ceremonies which included the marriages of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince Charles and Diana Spencer, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, etc.

However, a majority of voters decided that the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was their absolute favorite royal ceremony coming in with 48% of the vote. Prince Charles and Princess Diana's 1981 wedding opted for second place with 25% of the vote while Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's modern union placed third with 15% of the vote.

Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles nuptials placed fifth with 3% while now divorced couple Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s 1986 wedding came in as seventh with 2%. Express.co.uk suggests that their readers prefer a more traditional wedding as Meghan Markle’s ceremony differed greatly by breaking tradition and opting for more a modern impression than Kate Middleton’s union.
