In Paradise Valley, Montana, a "widowed" mother fox displays extraordinary maternal instincts when it comes to her 13 babies as seen in a YouTube video posted in 2019.

There are times in every mom's life when her kid might drive her crazy. Take the nuttiness of one child and multiply it by 13 and you can appreciate this awesome fox mom.

Near Paradise Valley, Montana, a red fox raises her 13 kits with a kind of patience and fortitude that can only be called, well, superhuman. The video captures her in various phases of all her mothering duties.

The video opens with a shot of five of the 13 kits gathered together. They almost seem to be caught pausing as if to say, "What trouble can we get into now?" The next shots show more baby foxes playing, wrestling with each other and nipping each other's tails.

Mom is not far away, however. She bounds in from offscreen and rounds up her young ones. A few of them are nursing; later we can see her nuzzling a few of them as they snuggle up close to her.

She must be tired, but her attention never wavers from her kits. She never gets snappish with them either. Throughout the entire two and a half minute video, the wonderful fox mom guards her brood and sees to their every need.

In several scenes, she stands patiently while all the kits take turns nursing. But with so many mouths to feed, this is not an easy process. As they jockey for position, they jump all around. This includes climbing under, over and on mom herself.

Mama fox stands strong through it all. What's even more impressive is her watchfulness. As the bouncy baby foxes swarm around her, she still looks around alertly for signs of predators.

Every instinct she has is finely tuned to her young ones. She sees to their needs, feeding them, protecting them and loving them with her soft nuzzles. None of them have been shoved aside in favor of another, and they all obviously love and trust their mom.

This is one mom who deserves a Mother-Of-The-Year Award. What do you think? Let us know and pass this along to your friends and family so they can watch this amazing fox mom in action.
