Married women have a lot on their plate, especially when there are kids involved. You’re trying your best to be a devoted wife, gourmet cook, caring mom and more, every day of your life. It’s no wonder women are stressed out all of the time!

But we often forget that husbands are a source of stress, too. Many women feel as though their partner is more like a child to them than an equal. Do husbands cause more stress? Most women are thrust into the role of teacher, cook, maid, doctor, event planner, chauffeur, organizer and more in the relationship. They may have to act like they are superwoman, but in reality, they aren’t. Married women with kids often run out of steam quickly, affecting their work and lives.

A survey was conducted by TODAY.com and included more than 7,000 mothers. According to the results, the average mother has a stress level of 8.5 out of 10. The surprising part? Out of these women, 46% of them said that their partner actually caused more stress than their kids did.

According to the survey, three out of every four mothers stated that they are responsible for most of the household and parenting duties. A huge issue for one out of five mothers was the fact that they do not get enough help from their partner. They also stated that there is simply not enough time in their day to complete what needs to be done.

The stresses of the day have been found to affect the health of both partners. The University of Padova conducted a study that found if the husband dies before the wife, the wife becomes healthier. It is just the opposite if the wife dies before her husband and he assumes all of the responsibilities.

What to Do to Fix the Problem

It is extremely important to communicate with your partner concerning your household duties. Come up with a list that will split up your duties to reduce your stress. Make sure you revisit it often and stick to it.

Most husbands and fathers do want to be the best that they can be. There are also times that the mother or wife takes on most of the responsibilities herself because she does not trust her partner to do them or to do them correctly.

One of the best ways to lighten the stress of household duties is for the woman to trust her partner. They need to be a team and commit to splitting the duties fairly.
