Students Left Dazed By High School Dance Team’s Electrifying Pixar Movies Performance

For the most part, while high school pep rallies offer students an hour or two of respite from normal classes, they aren’t usually entertaining enough to be particularly memorable. That is unless you go to Walden Grove High School in Arizona. There, its PAC Dance Team has nailed the art of delighting audiences with its original and wholly inventive performances. Among the most popular routine in its repertoire is its September 2016 spin on Pixar movies.

Since being posted online, it has garnered upwards of 7.1 million views – and it’s not hard to see why. The spectacle started in a packed basketball court before the opening chords from “Toy Story” began to play. Before long, some of the film’s most beloved characters, including Woody, Jessie, Lil Bo Peep, Buzz Lightyear and even the green toy soldiers, took the floor. They were soon joined by the superhero family from “The Incredibles” before Dory and Nemo from “Finding Nemo” jumped in as well. The audience burst into raucous applause when the next character emerged – adorable Boy Scout Russell from the film “Up.” Then, Mike Wazowski, Sulley and Boo from “Monsters, Inc.” appeared to play their parts.

So far, the characters had been dancing to music from the respective Pixar movies, but midway through the performance, things took a turn for the modern. The troupe all got together in the middle of the court to show off their modern dancing and locking skills to the beat of a contemporary song, sending the crowd wild.

Apart from winning millions of fans online, the PAC Dance Team also managed to have its exploits highlighted by some of the most popular names in entertainment.

Since the PAC Dance Team’s Pixar clip was posted online, it has been lauded by millions of viewers. Among them was “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which posted a link to the clip on its Instagram page, among other outlets. Most notably, however, it gained the attention of Pixar itself! On its Facebook page, the animation studio also put a link to the dance team’s performance. The PAC Dance Team was ecstatic about the recognition, putting a screenshot of it up on its Instagram account, captioned with “IT CONTINUES! Official page of Disney•Pixar and more shares?! WOW! Ellen has got to be next!!”

Viewers of the dance team’s YouTube channel were also equally thrilled by the video, with many wishing their high school had been just as fun.

“You could tell they practiced so much! good work! Wish my high school days were half this cool!” one viewer wrote.

“Ok but like as a dancer, that was amazing. The formations alone were very impressive and I don’t know how they got so in sync!!” another fan commented.

“I wish I went to this high school. Y’all have some great creativity and I love it,” read another comment.

Luckily for us, this is not the only time the PAC Dance Team has put its own spin on popular classics. In 2017, its “Wizard of Oz” dance racked up more than 4.5 million views, while its “Harry Potter” performance hit the mark with over 18 million views. Its “Marvel” homecoming dance also became a viral success with more than 5.5 million views.

Unsurprisingly, the team has built a solid fanbase online, with more than 38 million views altogether since their YouTube channel was launched in 2013. We can’t wait to see what’s next for the talented crew!
