If you think you have nothing to give, you might need a bigger heart and a more open mind. Even though the girl had nothing, she managed to find a way not to be left out of the chance to give her teacher a gift because it meant that much to her.

The place is Kennewick, Washington. The recipient is a 24-year-old elementary school teacher named Rachel Uretsky-Pratt. She received the touching gift from one of her poorest students.

All of the students at her school qualify for either free or reduced lunch. They also get a free breakfast every day. So none of them has any money. They don't even have money for food, much less to buy gifts for social acquaintances.

On the last day of school before the Christmas break, one of her students presented her with a small bag of marshmallows. The child had picked them out of her free school breakfast cereal and wrapped them using the clear plastic from her utensils. It turned out surprisingly cute.

All of the gifts she received from her students are precious and come from the heart because none of her students comes from a well-off family. But, amid the usual pile of candies, small trinkets and holiday notes, this gift made the biggest impression on the young teacher.

This one was worthy of taking a photo and posting to her Facebook account with a message of holiday cheer and inspiration. The post of the simple gift and her inspiring words went viral.

Remember at the end of The Grinch, how the Grinch was won over precisely because the Whos down in Whoville still had the spirit of Christmas after he stole all their shiny Christmas stuff? This is a bit like a real world slice of that feeling.

This child knows it's not about the money. It's about how you feel towards the people near and dear to you and how you find some means to express that. Like The Little Drummer Boy, this poor child gave the best gift of all because it came from her heart.

Are you tired of the commercialization of the holiday season? Did this help remind you there is more to life than money? Do you know a few people who would appreciate seeing this cute, sweet story? Forward it to them now.
