On May 30, Burroughs was set to take the stage to accept his diploma from Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville, Florida. What happened next amazed everyone. Burroughs simply did not just accept his diploma. He stood up from his wheelchair and walked across the stage to accept it.

You can watch the inspirational moment in the video below:

Even his close family were in shock. Although Burroughs had told his mother that he had a surprise for her, she would have never guessed that her disabled son would rise from his wheelchair and make his way across the stage.

Jennifer Long, Burroughs' mother, lauded her son for his extreme resilience, saying to Fox 35 that he can do anything that he puts his mind to. Burroughs has experienced 18 surgeries in his lifetime already, yet he never backs down. He credits this resiliency to his twin brother, Joel. Joel suffers from epilepsy and the two are always encouraging each other in their battles.

There is no time to make excuses in their household, so the two just keep moving forward.

Burroughs plans to attend Florida State in the fall, as he works to pursue a degree in social work. It is clear that he will be an inspiration to anyone who meets him.
