Street-Smart Cat Leads Woman Into Supermarket To Buy Cat Food So She Adopts Him

May 31, 2020 by apost team

A primary school teacher from Piedras Negras, Mexico, adopted a street cat after it led her into a supermarket and into the cat food section where the cat pointed to his favorite brand of cat treats. She named him Conejo, which means 'rabbit' because he has no tail.

If there are attributes that stand out in cats, it's their hunting skills and intelligence. These qualities have helped them live in cruel streets where they compete for survival with man, nature, and their kind. The internet is awash with heartwarming stories of cats. However, it isn't every day that you hear of a cat that is confident and shrewd to ask what they want.

A white cat in the streets of Mexico recently went out of its way to prove its one smart cat. On one fateful day, Tania Lizbeth Santos Coy Tova was going for shopping in a local supermarket when she noticed the smart feline staring at her. She had no option but to reach down to the kitty while making a video.

At the beginning of the video, Tania gently pets the kitty. The cat started following Tania, eventually leading her into a nearby shop. Things start getting interesting after they enter the supermarket. The cat led her to the cat food section and points at his favorites snack. Not leaving anything to chance, he got in between Tania just to ensure he is not being ignored. It is at this point that Tania paid attention to him as he guided her to the pet food rack.

Tania laughs as his kitty paw points to the cat food in the food stall and reaches for his a treat. It's like he recognizes that it's his favorite treat. She had no choice but to buy him what he desired. After growing fond of the feline, Tania decided to follow him and see where he lives.

She adopted the kitten when she realized he had no home. In fact, the kitty was living in an abandoned house. She named him Conejo, meaning 'rabbit' because he resembles a rabbit and has no tail.

The cat now has an Instagram account called Conejo el Gato meaning 'Rabbit the Cat'. Besides the iconic video, there are several other photos of the pet's life after adoption.

Conejo now lives as part of her household. This was after booking an appointment with the veterinarian who checked and cleaned him. They had to get rid of wounds which were probably caused by mistreatment by passers-by or from fights with other street animals. Besides medical care, Conejo got a favorite toy named Rene.

He seems so happy with the family and no longer needs to roam in the streets. He was very fearful and sad before, but today he allows people to carry and touch him.

Although Rabbit had many wounds on his body, today, he looks very handsome in photos. Tania believes Conejo teaches them a great lesson of showing respect, empathy, and love towards other beings. His brilliance has got him home and a new family, which affords him more than food daily.
