Stray Dog Leads Rescuers To Her Friend So She Can Be Rescued As Well

It is always heartbreaking to see stray animals starving on the street. That is why there are so many organizations dedicated to finding loving homes for abused and abandoned pets. The group Sidewalk Specials' mission is to rescue animals without homes in South Africa.

Sidewalk Specials recently posted videos that recounted their experiences while rescuing a sickly stray dog they found on the streets near a harbor in Cape Town. Originally dubbed “Harbor Dog”, the stray pooch was eventually placed in a home and renamed Kettle. But that is not where the story ends, because the volunteers at Sidewalk Specials found out that Kettle also had a sister who was still homeless near the harbor.

When they went back out to look for Kettle’s sister, they found her and she eagerly ate the food they offered. But for some reason, Kettle’s sister, who the volunteers dubbed “No Name” in the video, would not leave the area. Intrigued, the animal rescue volunteers followed “No Name” as she ducked behind a parked car, and to their surprise found yet another female dog that they called “No Name 2.” Both dogs were cold and hungry, and the volunteers could see that “No Name 2” was weak and covered with ticks.

The Sidewalk Specials volunteers rescued both dogs even though they did not have a way to pay for the medical care they needed. “No Name 1” found a foster home that was willing to keep her permanently, but “No Name 2” had more difficulty being placed. After many requests for assistance, the two dogs were finally placed in a home that could take them both. They now go by the names of Gracie and Hope.
