Stranger Performs Good Deed After Special Needs Child And Family Are Forced To Leave Movie Theater

Parenting a child with special needs comes with a host of unique challenges. Some of these challenges may be a foreign concept to many people not familiar with special needs children.

One mother from suburban Chicago recently took to social media to tell her story. According to CBS, Jennifer Daly is a mom to a 3-year-old boy named Jonathan. This sweet boy is a dwarf and also struggles with cervical spine issues. Anytime that Jonathan leaves the house, he has to do so in a wheelchair and with all of his necessary medical equipment.

On a recent Friday night, Jennifer thought she would make her son happy by taking him to a local movie theater to watch the new "Dumbo" film. The proud mom thought her son was adorable as he made noises in appreciation of the movie. However, not everyone in the theater appeared to be as enamored with Jonathan's response.

Jennifer was approached by theater staff about halfway through the movie. The staff members said that they had received complaints that Jonathan's squeals and laughs were a disruption.

The mom was livid when she realized that they were being asked to leave the theater. She went home and posted about the incident on Facebook this Saturday and the post is already going viral, with over 6.5 K shares and 9.4 K reactions.

"I have never been more angry or cried more than what happened to me last night. Last night I took both boys to AMC theater in Lake in the Hills to watch Dumbo the movie. Kristopher has been asking for the past few weeks to go see this movie. What one may not know is it is a huge feat for me to be able to accomplish this task. It is not easy with Jonathan’s oxygen and feeding bag and just carrying him to be able to go and do this. " She wrote.

When the story went public, Jennifer wasn't the only one who was livid. People were understandably upset at the injustice of a special needs child being forced to leave a movie theater. One man even decided to take action.

Beau Box, a complete stranger, actually rented out an entire movie theater so that Daly and her family could watch a movie without worrying about being humiliated and kicked out of the cinema. And as if that wasn't enough, he filled the rest of the movie seats with other special needs children whose parents' had the same fears.

“I thought it was sad that Jonathan couldn’t see the movie, and I love going to the movies and I think everybody should be able to see a movie even if they have special needs," Box told CBS.
