Random acts of kindness are gestures of generosity that are performed without any expectations of a return. Many people do these things anonymously. The good feeling that a person gets from being kind to others with no expectations is all the reward that some people need.

WBIR-TV reported that a group of mothers and daughters went out to lunch at Creve Coeur Pasta House in St. Louis, Missouri. The daughters all have Down Syndrome. The group was out on a break to enjoy each other's company.

Upon seeing the group of mothers and daughters, one woman was touched. She decided to pay the entire lunch bill for the group. Lunch for 20 people is no small amount of money, so this was a considerable act of kindness.

“He said somebody has paid for your bill and I’m like, ‘Which one of our bills?'” Mary Crockett told WBIR-TV. “He was like, ‘The whole bill of like 20 people.'”

The servers had never seen someone pay the bill for a group of 20 people before. They were quite surprised by the woman's act of kindness. It tugged at their heartstrings and gave them faith in humanity. On a daily basis, servers have to deal with irate or picky customers. This helped them all have a good day at work.

“I’ve never seen a table pay for another group that big,” one employee told WBIR-TV.

The mothers were just as surprised as the restaurant's employees. They certainly did not expect anyone to pay their lunch bill. One of the moms said;

“I mean we’re not petite people, so it wasn’t just a little birthday luncheon,” Crockett laughed.

Their lunch bill was considerable, and they were very appreciative of the stranger's gesture.

The woman was still in the restaurant when employees asked why she chose to pay for the lunch bill of the 20 mothers and daughters. She said that she did it because the group tugged at her heartstrings. Just seeing the mothers and daughters together gave her joy. She wanted to do something, and paying for their lunch just seemed like an easy way to share.
