Stolen Pit Bull Was 2,000 Miles Away From Home But Made It Back To His Family

Dog owners never want to come home and discover their beloved pet is missing. When it becomes apparent a thief stole the dog, anger overcomes the feeling of sadness. The only feeling possibly more powerful is joy; the joy felt when the dog returns.

Zeus, a pit bull mix from Butte, Montana, found himself far from home. "Far," in this case, means 2,000 miles from home. According to the Metro, someone known to his owner, Cassandra, took off with him. Returning him home took a lot of effort and assistance. The good people at Many Paws Volunteer Transport and Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association worked together to bring Zeus back to Cassandra.

The process of bringing Zeus back was arduous. The big dog couldn't fly by plane, so driving him 2,000 miles back to Cassandra was the only option. Volunteers from the two pet organizations were up to the task. They told WOWK-TV that they invested four full days of travel to give Zeus first-class treatment.

Many excellent pet-friendly organizations exist, but they don't always receive publicity. That's a shame since they often rely on donations to fund their work, such as the rescue missions that saved Zeus. Hopefully, they'll continue to save more lost and stolen dogs.

The return of Zeus to his loving home may give some hope to people with lost pets. The uplifting tale proves a positive outcome is possible even in the worst of circumstances. Is there a pet lover you know who'd love to hear about Zeus' homecoming? Let him or her know about it.
