Dogs are almost as important to our community as humans. Let’s face it, there are people who leave their inheritances to their dogs, and some even opt-out of getting pregnant so they can be puppy parents. On a more practical level, they are amazing support animals for people with physical and emotional disorders, including blindness. Finding a home for every furry friend should be a breeze, right? Apparently not for Stevie, a Greyhound that has been with an animal center since 2013.

Over in Britain, there is one dog that is having an issue being adopted. After being rescued as a stray puppy seven years ago, Stevie is still with his rescuers at the Shrewsbury Dogs Trust Center. With his amazing charm and attitude, it is a bit confusing that no one has taken him to be a permanent part of their family yet, reports The Sun.

With descriptions like “Britain’s loneliest dog” and a “40mph couch potato”, Stevie should be every Greyhound lover’s dream. Because of his bursts of energy in later hours and having a hard time socializing, Stevie’s not an easy dog to place. According to the Dogs Trust manager Louise Campbell, the family who adopts him cannot have other dogs or children until he gets settled in, The Sun continues.

“He is quite sociable with people, he just needs that initial introduction and once he is comfortable with you he loves you.”

Stevie loves car rides, having new experiences, and sleeping on his special dog bed. One of the minor setbacks with Stevie, however is that he has a medical condition that prohibits him from going into the heat. To remedy this, there is a custom coat he wears during the summer months.

Although he has a few hiccups, it is still confusing that he hasn’t been placed in a permanent residence in seven years. The Dogs Trust has been able to find homes for at least 100 greyhounds like Stevie, yet he remains there adoption after adoption, according to The Sun.

If you or someone you know in the Shrewsbury area is a Greyhound lover looking for a special dog to call their own, pass this along to get Stevie a forever home. He’s a special dog who was created to love a special family. And as a 40mph couch potato, you can enjoy late-night movie marathons with a cuddle buddy.  Visit their website to keep up with Stevie’s adoption status.
