Stevie Nicks is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in music. As a soloist and as a member of the American-British rock band Fleetwood Mac, Nicks has been leaving her mark on the music industry since the late 1960s. Known for her distinctive voice, poetic lyrics, and her other-worldly stage presence, Nicks is easily one of the most defined artists of all time.

Weaving mystical and witchery imagery throughout her songs and performances, Nicks has gone on to captivate audiences with her out-of-this-world music. She first joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 before embarking on a solo career while still working with the band. Finding great success in both career avenues, Nicks continued to make beautiful music and reel in a huge fan following. Over the years, many people have been entranced by her unique stage look, which typically includes a bohemian style featuring flowing skirts, shawls, and platform boots.

Throughout the trajectory of her career, the singer-songwriter has never failed to impress with her ability to stun audiences and to release timeless music. The acclaimed artist has not only captured the hearts of critics and old fans, but she has continued to captivate new audiences today, with plenty of people still discovering her songs and their long-lasting mark on the music industry.

Some of her most notable songs as a member of Fleetwood Mac include "Dreams," "Landslide" and "Rhiannon," while her solo work includes "After the Glitter Fades" and "Edge of Seventeen." Since its release in February 1982, "Edge of Seventeen" has gone on to amaze fans of all ages from various generations with its anthemic lyrics and melody.

The Singer-Songwriter's Lasting Influence

Something truly remarkable about Nicks is that she was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame twice; first as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998 and again as a solo artist in 2019. Singer Harry Styles inducted into the Rock and Roll Hame of Fame the second time since Nicks is such a huge inspiration to him, according to Celebrity Land. "Her songs made you ache, feel on top of the world, make you want to dance, and usually all three at the same time," Styles said.

With heartfelt lyrics tied with Nicks' wondrous stage presence, "Edge of Seventeen" has become one of her most beloved solo songs. Released as the third single from her debut solo album "Bella Donna," the song is one of Nicks' most enduring tracks that has become an anthem for many. The lyrics express the singer's grief resulting from her uncle's death and the assissination of John Lennon occurring during the same week in December 1980. The song has since been covered by a variety of artists including Lindsay Lohan and the dark-pop band Muna, as per Celebrity Land.

Nightclub producer Chi Chi Valenti described the song as containing "so much of the Stevie Nicks lexicon — from the 'white-winged dove' to the 'nightbird' — over that driving, twirl-launching beat." Nicks' songwriting ability has also been high and above the rest, as she has time after time been able to write such clear and mystical imagery in her lyrics that are reminiscent of poetry. Celebrity Land credited "rooms on fire" and "sisters of the moon" as some of the most notable lines among Nicks' best and most magical lyrics in her discography.
