Steph Curry Gives Shocking Reply To 9-Year-Old Girl Who Asked Why His Shoes Weren't Available In Girl's Sizes

It’s so incredible how social media has made our celebrity idols more accessible than ever. In one of the most precious stories you may ever see revolving around the power of social media, a young girl wrote out a hand-written letter to NBA superstar Steph Curry that her father posted on Instagram.

Why is this story so adorable? Not only did Steph Curry personally respond to her, but he addressed her question in a matter of days and went above and beyond to not only correct the issue but to exceed her wildest expectations.

Riley Morrison is a 9-year-old aspiring basketball player who wanted to celebrate the kickoff of her upcoming basketball season with a brand new pair of Curry 5 basketball shoes. She wrote in her letter that she was a big fan of Curry’s and that one of her favorite activities to do with her father was to go to Warriors games to watch her hero play.

However, she was disappointed when, after her father agreed to treat her to a pair, there was only a tab for boys’ shoes available on the Under Armour website. She writes in her letter to Curry that she was sad to see there was no tab for girls’ sizes. She also noted that she knows he does a lot to support girl basketball players through his annual camps and that he has two daughters who are active athletes.

Much to her surprise, Steph Curry responded promptly with a handwritten letter that he posted to her from his personal Twitter account. He had spent 2 days working with Under Armour to fix the issue, noting that any non-adult sizes were mistakenly labeled as boys’ sizes.

He also not only immediately shipped her a pair of Curry 5’s in her size, but made her first on the list to get the upcoming Curry 6. As if that personalized response wasn’t enough to make a girl’s dream come true, Curry included a personal invitation to celebrate Women’s Day with him at an event on March 8th.

Curry has always been known as a proud advocate of women’s rights. However, it is incredibly moving when someone as larger-than-life as Curry doesn’t simply cut a check to a charity or host an event.

He truly made a little girl’s dreams come true while working to help megabrand Under Armour make positive changes for women’s rights through the simple addition of a dedicated girls’ tab to sell his shoes. He notes that his mother always taught him to always believe in women and always listen to women. This simple act shows that he really practices what he preaches.

In conclusion, the section of Under Armour’s website devoted to Curry’s shoes now proudly sports a tab dedicated to girls’ Curry 5’s. This incredibly moving story is a testament to how social media can not only make people's dreams come true, but how one person can make a real difference by sharing their thoughts and voicing their opinions.

Riley Morrison shared with Teen Vogue that she felt compelled to write the letter because she is passionate about basketball and wanted girls everywhere to feel that they are equally valued in the world of youth basketball.
