Stanley Tucci Reveals His Young Children With Wife Felicity Blunt Are Not 'Adventurous Eaters'

Actor and cookbook author Stanley Tucci is a MasterChef in the kitchen, but he admitted that his two young children, with wife Felicity Blunt, are such picky eaters. Matteo, born in 2015, and Emilia, born in 2018, are not yet quite the adventurous eaters despite their father's love for good food.

The couple has been married since 2012, but they actually met six years before, during the premiere of his movie, "The Devil Wears a Prada," which starred Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, his wife's younger sister. At that time, the actor was still married to Kathryn Spath Tucci.

Stanley and Kathryn were married from 1995 until her death in 2009 due to breast cancer. They had three children together, twins Nicolo and Isabel, born in 2000, and daughter, Camilla, born in 2002. Stanley also stood as a father figure to Kathryn's two other children from a previous relationship.

A year after becoming a widower, Stanley and Felicity met again at the wedding of Emily to actor John Krasinski in Italy in 2010. Shortly afterward, Stanley and Felicity quietly dated, and she became his literary agent. Felicity worked for the UK talent agency Curtis Brown and handled authors like Danielle Steel and Jennifer Egan.

The year he married Felicity, Stanley also released "The Tucci Cookbook," which featured recipes from his maternal grandmother, Concetta Tropiano, and the Tucci family. The cookbook landed in the New York Times Bestseller list. In 2014, Stanley released “The Tucci Table," which was a collaboration with his wife and was sold as a family-focused cookbook. It was also a bestseller.

Though Stanley and his wife are foodies, they can't even convince their children to try mashed potatoes. During a podcast interview on Dish, the celebrity dad joked that Matteo and Emilia might have been raised wrong because all they want to eat are sausages.

"My kids should be such great adventurous eaters and they're not," Stanley said. They're lovely people, but we've been really bad about that.”

It's a stark contrast to the actor as a little boy when he admittedly became obsessed with Julia Child. He told NPR in a 2010 interview that he would watch Child's cooking show as a kid and then cry at the end "because she was so passionate about what she did."

Incidentally, Stanley played Paul Child, Julia's husband, in the 2009 movie "Julie & Julia," which reunited him with Streep. He actually suggested to Streep that they must cook together as part of their process of filming the movie, and they made veal ragu and a fruit tart in Streep's Manhattan kitchen.

In 2020, Stanley penned an essay in the Atlantic describing their life during the lockdowns and how his older children, who stayed with them when the world shut down, usually wiped out and devoured the contents of their kitchen in one go. Despite feeling "frustrated" about his kids' eating habits, Stanley acknowledged that he actually feels lucky to have these moments with his family as it gave him all the opportunities to cook for them.

The following year, Stanley released his third cookbook, "Taste," which became an instant bestseller. The cookbook includes anecdotes from his two foodie films, "Julie & Julia" and “Big Night," as well as the types of meals he creates for his kids and wife.
