Specialists Name The Most Common Beauty Mistakes We Keep Making

Jun 27, 2018 by apost team

Beauty is not an area where you want to make lots of mistakes. Keeping your look on point is #ESSENTIAL- Why wouldn't it be? Liking the way you look is one of the most important things in life. But these beauty mishaps will ruin any chance you have at loving what you see in the mirror. Check them out, and more importantly, don't do them!

1. YES, You Should Be Using Night Cream

This mistake is one where we aren't even sure where it comes from. What could possibly be wrong with night cream? It keeps your face moisturized and clean, and you don't even need to be awake! Where do people get the idea you shouldn't be using it?

Night cream will repair your face the same way sleep does your mind and muscles. Not using it is like not getting enough sleep; in other words, really bad. Lather up before bed each night, and you'll be looking better in the morning- we promise.

2. Not All Alcohols Are Bad For Your Skin

Let's get this straight- There is nothing wrong with alcohol-based cosmetics. Yes, you should be cautious about what you put on your face, and double yes, too much of any chemical is a bad thing.

But alcohol isn't something you need to be worried about! Some of the best beauty products out there use alcohol as a key ingredient. There is some truth to this misconception- Alcohol DOES dry the skin. But every moisturizing agent needs some drying chemicals as well. Otherwise, you would just be lathering your face with butter. Drying agents keep the product on your skin, where it should be. In short, there is nothing wrong with alcohol-based moisturizers.

3. Cellulite Has Nothing To Do With How Much Water You Drink

This one....this one hurts. It's one thing to get the facts wrong with cosmetics, but for something that affects your overall health, too? Oof. Oof, girl. Water is important and cellulite sucks. These two things are as certain as death and taxes. They aren't nearly as related as death and taxes, however.

Chugging a liter of water before bed will do far more good for your plumber's wallet than it will for your skin. And worse, too much water can be really dangerous! Your skin can only absorb so much water, so if you're already getting your recommended intake, you can scratch kegging a barrel of Dasani off your list of options.

4. Getting Lots Of Manicures Doesn't Hurt (Except Maybe Your Wallet)

Whoever came up with this one was having a bad day and wanted to deny her fellow women (or men!) of the joys of a good manicure. No, getting lots of manicures won't affect your skin. Well, it will, but only in positive ways. There are some safety measures. Always use ample amounts of nail polish, a product that actually strengthens your nails after extended use, contrary to popular belief.

To our understanding, the basis for this misconception comes from the idea that nail polish blocks oxygen. Like everything else on this list, that is untrue, and getting in the way of your achieving your best look. Treat yourself- Get manicures as much as you like!

Being careful with what you put on your body is crucial, but an equally important piece of knowledge is knowing when you can do something! Always get the facts straight when it comes to beauty.
