There are so many things that you'll worry about for your children while they are at school. You'll wonder if they will fit in or if they will be made fun of. Bullying is such a big part of today's world that it has everyone concerned.

If you have a child that has special needs, it's sure that you'll worry even more. The good news is that in smaller schools most everyone knows each other and tends to look out and help each other.

Wayne Community Schools in Iowa is one of the smaller schools like that. They only have a little more than 200 students in 7th -12th grades. Angie Sloan's daughter, Chelsea, was entering into 7th grade and she was very worried about whether Chelsea would be included in activities with the other children.

She worried about Chelsea because she has Down Syndrome. It wasn't long before Chelsea had made some friends, an entire class of friends. They weren't just keeping an eye on her, they were her true friends.

The years passed and Chelsea became a senior. She was so excited to hear that she had been named on her high school's homecoming court. Angie said that Chelsea couldn't stop smiling about it

She said that since she had found out about it, she's been counting down until the big day. She goes on to say that she has been telling everyone about it, everyone she sees, even the news. Angie said that she was even excited about it and she usually doesn't get into these types of events.

Angie and Chelsea did the normal girl things before the event. They went dress shopping, and had their hair and nails done. Chelsea even wore a little bit of make up for the event, with mom's approval.

Angie admits that it all made her so happy. She didn't expect her little girl to be able to experience all these normal things that a lot of girls take for granted.

During the event, the king and queen were announced. Chelsea was so happy to be up there with everyone else. She looked on as her classmate and friend Katie Gassman was crowned queen.

The next thing that happened was completely unexpected.

The crowns were presented and then the announcer states that Katie had given her a letter before the event that she wanted to be read to the audience. The announcer struggled through reading the letter as it was so genuine and heartfelt.

Her letter read something like this:

I want to share my crown with someone who has always had a smile and that has faced and overcome many hardships of her own.

Katie then took the crown from her own head and approached Chelsea. She then put it on Chelsea's head. Chelsea was so shocked and excited, her mouth dropped wide open.

Every single person in the room cheered.
