Gwen Stefani Set To Make Blake Shelton A First-Time Dad With Baby At 53, Source Says

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are one of Hollywood's most adorable couples. From the beginning of their romance in 2015 when they were both coaches on "The Voice," to their frequent social media posts about each other where they often declare their love for one another, the couple has shared an incredibly sweet high-profile romance for over seven years.

After dating for over five years, during which both would frequently gush about the other during interviews and on social media, it became a hot topic about whether they'd ever get married, with the couple frequently having to field questions about any rumored engagements. Then in October 2020, Shelton proposed to Stefani inside a chapel that he'd built himself on his Oklahoma ranch. The news spread that the couple was finally engaged, with Shelton writing on his Instagram post that Stefani saved his 2020.

In July 2021, the couple had their gorgeous wedding at Shelton's Oklahoma ranch, which was officiated by none other than Carson Daly, the host of "The Voice." Since then, the couple has been living in wedded bliss, and they've even occasionally performed together while introducing the other as their husband or wife.

Although Shelton became a wonderful and caring stepfather to Stefani’s children with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, fans of the two singers had been asking when the two were planning to have a child of their own.

Now, a December 2022 article from Life & Style Magazine revealed an alleged significant development in the couple’s highly-talked-about relationship, something that their loyal and loving fans have been waiting for. Read on to know more about what Stefani and Shelton have been up to lately.

Stefani's first relationship in the public eye was with Rossdale, the lead singer, and guitarist of the band Bush. The pair met when No Doubt opened for Bush at a holiday concert in 1995. The couple married in September 2002, but they were not meant to last, and their divorce was finalized in 2016. They welcomed three sons together: Kingston, Zuma and Apollo.

However, when Stefani joined “The Voice” for its seventh season in 2014, she met Shelton, who was at the time also finalizing his divorce from Miranda Lambert. Stefani and Shelton found solace in their shared experience, and Stefani said that because of Shelton, she had hope.

"It went from horrible to, like, hopeful and, like, 'Wow, God, you just don't know what's gonna happen next," Stefani said to Harper’s Bazaar.

The pair started dating soon after, and the world watched as their friendship grew into a romance straight out of a fairy tale. But when the two finally tied the knot, Shelton did not only marry Stefani but also her three sons. Entering fatherhood was a big deal for Shelton, but he continued to embrace the role. According to Life & Style Magazine, it was “scary” for Shelton to balance the role of being a friend to the three boys and being a role model for them.

“It’s one thing for me to be with the kids all the time and be their buddy, but you do have to consider after a while that they start to listen to things that you say,” he told the magazine. “There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that. I don’t know if (being a step-dad is) hard, or harder, or not as hard, as being an actual biological parent.”

In 2022, Shelton announced that he would be leaving “The Voice” after Season 23, finishing his stint on the show as the longest-running judge for more than a decade already. Stefani, who is also on the show, will also take a bow as a coach after Season 22.

In a chat with People magazine in December 2022, Shelton finally opened up about what his plans were in the coming years after “The Voice” and balancing a life in the spotlight and his newfound love – his family. Dec 5, 2022, also saw the premiere of his gameshow “Barmageddon,” which he produced. The bar-themed gameshow sees two celebrities pitted against each other in five pub games, with the winner getting a cash prize that would go to a viral internet sensation the celebrity has chosen to support. Shelton described it as a “real-life ‘The Hangover,’” Shelton told People magazine, and added, "We wanted to try to capture that in a TV show with people that we know."

Hosted by WWE ambassador Nikki Bella, the first episode of the show included Stefani, singer Sheryl Crow, country music singer and actor Trace Adkins and singer Kane Brown. “Unfortunately for Gwen and Sheryl, they were the very first episode that we actually taped. Gwen had to be the guinea pig for everybody else," Shelton said. "She and Sheryl both did so well and just let their hair down and went for it. They set the bar for the tone and personality of the series. It gave us the confidence to say, 'We really can do this.'"

Alongside his game show, Shelton is also focusing on something closer to home – his family.

Shelton has donned many cowboy hats before, but the newest one he'll be wearing is the ultimate hat of em’ all – fatherhood.

After years of performing in heavily-packed arenas and concert stages, it looks like Shelton and Stefani are finally at the point in their lives where they want to relax and enjoy the fruits of their labor.

"Gwen and I have done so much traveling and touring and work the first half of our lives that now we're like: 'Hey, I'm good to put my sweatpants on at 6 p.m. and watch 'Ozark' eight times. That's our life now, and we love it,” Shelton told People magazine.

It's no surprise the pair have become extremely close. Since their early days bonding over the difficult period that saw them both finalizing divorces about the same time, they have gone on to collaborate on different albums, proving the two of them harmonize and complement each other really well.

"The relationship that we have is so natural and so normal. This feels like the easiest thing I've ever been a part of," he recalled to the magazine. "To me, she's my best friend and everything that I need and lean on."

With his impending “The Voice” departure, Shelton assured his fans that although he's slowing down, there are still other projects he has going on, however, he's focusing on family first.

"I've had people say, 'Man, come on. You're not quitting The Voice (to do) nothing!' But I really am. Please, I'm accepting ideas," he quipped. "I have Barmageddon — we can do a whole season in a couple weeks, and it's a blast for me — and my Lands' End clothing line. It's time to push some of this (work) stuff out and let more family and personal life in."

Shelton is confident that this next step in his life is bigger than he is already.

"If I walked away from my career at this time, the only thing that I run the risk of is having regrets that I'm missing out on some more important things in life. For now, that's our kids. This isn't about me anymore and never will be again," the singer said in the same interview with People magazine.

In his marriage with ex-wife Lambert, Shelton had no children. It was only in his marriage with Stefani that the singer had the chance to become a full-time father too.

"Even though I'm a stepparent, I take that job very seriously. The kids see me as a very important person in their life," he shared. "(When they ask,) 'Why isn't Blake here?' I take that stuff to heart. I've made plenty of money, but you can't buy time back. I don't want any regrets."

Shelton is now settling well in his Oklahoma ranch with Stefani and the three boys, an escape from the busy world of Los Angeles in California.

"We get away from everything (in Los Angeles), and we're just us. It truly does feel different. That's where I feel the most comfortable, happy, and safe,” he said, referring to their Oklahoma home.

In an interview early in 2022 with Entertainment Tonight, Shelton underscored that his music will be on the “backseat” for the foreseeable future.

"Look, I love music and I love The Voice. I love all the cool things I get to do with my job, but those things all take a backseat now to Gwen and the kids and it’s just a new phase of my life," the “Home” singer told the outlet.

Now, it looks like Shelton might finally get the answer to his question of whether it's harder to have biological or stepchildren, as it's been reported that he is going to be a biological father, as Stefani, 53, is allegedly finally pregnant with their first child after numerous attempts to conceive.

In an article from Life & Style Magazine, an apparent source close to the couple has confirmed that they are expecting. Stefani apparently wanted “nothing more than to give Blake his own child."

The source revealed that the two had failed to conceive naturally, so the “Sweet Escape” singer underwent numerous IVF treatments throughout the years. However, initial attempts were unsuccessful.

“She’d given up on it because it wasn’t working and it was too emotionally grueling, but then she wanted to give it one more try,” the source added.

And alas, trying is indeed for the patient and prayerful. After visiting a top specialist in Los Angeles, it seems the two have finally conceived: “Gwen prepared herself – eating healthy, meditating, going to acupuncture sessions. You name it, Gwen did it.”

Now, it seems like the couple is focusing on family life, especially with the arrival of a new addition to the family. Per the source, Shelton “wants a girl," and he has already been hands-on in preparing their Oklahoma ranch – building a crib, doing some nursery DIY and even buying a pink cowboy hat and cowboy boots.

Some eagle-eyed fans spotted the couple's plus one on the red carpet of the NYWICI Matrix Awards on Oct. 26, 2022, as Stefani had what appeared to be a baby bump barely concealed beneath her fitted pink dress.

“Yay! I’m so happy for you both! Congratulations on increasing your family. Many blessings from our good Lord above!” a fan posted

“Baby bump?? Blake, you’d make a great father!!” another user shared

Other fans were also quick to celebrate the beautiful couple and what could be amazing baby news for them.

“Lucky man and his lucky lady. Congrats to you both,” one fan commented, while another said: “Gwen is amazing and she deserves everything good in this world!!! 💖 And u guys are so lucky to have each other!”

Another fan wrote: “Gwen deserves all of this! 💖 Thank you for making @gwenstefani the happiest she’s ever been, and for being the sweetest human being ever! You are such an amazing stepdad, husband, and best friend! I couldn’t love @gwenstefani and you @blakeshelton more! My favorite couple ever!💕

Considering Shelton built the chapel on his ranch where he and Stefani got engaged and then married, we're sure the nursery will be nothing less than stellar.

The country music star is also making sure his wife is well taken care of now that she's with child. Life & Style Magazine reported:

"Blake's running around after (Stefani), making sure she's taking it easy. ... It's been such a long and stressful road to get this far, so he's going all-out to ensure she's calm and relaxed."

In anticipation of the baby's arrival, Life & Style Magazine reported that none other than Taylor Swift will be hosting "a small, animal-themed baby shower" for the couple. The publication reported that other celebrities will be present, as well as "cupcakes, fun games and mocktails." Apparently, "Taylor loves throwing parties!"

Congratulations to the happy couple! After a joyous few years getting engaged and then married, we're sure Shelton and Stefani are incredibly happy and excited about growing their family from 5 to 6.
