Son Builds Aging Dad New Adaptable Tiny Home, So He Can Still Live Independently

It's very hard to observe your parent or parents getting older and possibly declining in health. They cannot do everything they used to do, but elder folks crave their independence, and that's what Josh Wynne set out to do for his loving father. He would build him a tiny home that was easier for him to navigate about. Best of all, the new home would be built on the son's property, so his dad would be nearby. He would name the cottage "Mike's Hammock" after his father.

The Florida property is the cat's meow of the neighborhood, and although it is small, it still features more square footage than the average tiny home.

"Mike's Hammock" boasts 604 sq. ft. with a modern kitchen, a cool den and one bedroom and a bathroom. It's been carefully designed for an elder person with plenty of big windows, great open lighting, things within reach and plenty of room for wheelchairs and walkers to move freely about.

Another great appeal of the tiny home is its low utility costs. The bills total about $25 per month, and the home was constructed with recyclable materials, including the structure's frame. Josh picked up that important piece from a construction site. This is also hard to believe, but when the tiny place was built, not even a full dumper of waste was collected. In addition, for every tree material he used during the construction, the good son promised to plant three trees in exchange.

Dad Mike Wynne loves his new digs and being close to his adoring son.

The images of the tiny home will blow your mind. It's a tender story that puts our priorities right where they belong; family matters, small or large. It's fun to look inside tiny homes and see just how cozy and adaptable they seem for the resident.
