Here come the tears - An infant girl has been adopted by the entirety of the 82nd Airborne after her father was killed in a suicide bombing.

Soldiers have a special bond. They learn to accept each other, cohabitate, fight for their beliefs, and trust their friends with their very lives. It's like a family pack. Chris Harris, along with his fellow soldiers on the 82nd Airborne Division, is well aware of this. When he received word that he was going to have a baby, the whole of the 82nd Airborne was right there with him.

July of 2017 was the moment that Britt called Chris to tell him. At the time, he and his fellow soldiers were stationed in Afghanistan. The entire division received the news alongside Chris.

Britt showed Chris a baby onesie printed with the good news. Chris couldn't wait to become a father, but he would never get the chance. Barely one week after the announcement, Chris Harris was killed in a suicide bombing. Chris wouldn't ever meet his child, Britt wouldn't ever see her husband come home, and the 82nd would be lost without their brother.

An unusually large family

True families stick together. No one now knows that better than the 82nd and Britt. Throughout her entire pregnancy, Britt gave the 82nd updates and shared photos about the baby. The family helped each other find strength and make sure Chris's legacy wasn't lost.

When it was time to reveal the baby's sex, Britt wanted the squad to be surprised. She sent a package to the 82nd, filled with confetti poppers. The squad was instructed to begin recording as soon as the package was opened. They've since posted the baby reveal clip on Youtube, where it's quickly going viral.

The squad opens the confetti poppers and is showered in an avalanche of pink confetti. The baby is a girl! Everyone was excited and celebrating as though the child was theirs. Britt's daughter was named after her father, and Christian Michelle Harris was born on March 17, 2017.

Baby Christian was born the same day that the 82nd returned from the assignment in Afghanistan. They all rushed to the hospital to welcome the girl to the world. Britt quickly got in contact with photographers to capture images of the heartwarming family moment.

Some family bonds really do transcend the traditional definition of "family." What do you think of these bittersweet photos?
